Former South Dakota governor and congressman Bill Janklow was released from prison today in 2004 after serving 100 days for second-degree manslaughter. In August 2003, Janklow's Cadillac hit and killed motorcyclist Randy Scott on an intersection near Trent. Although the 4-time Republican governor argued he was suffering from low blood sugar, a Moody County jury convicted him in December. Janklow resigned his congressional seat in January and entered jail.
