Consulting my map, it appears that Spink County is directly south of Aberdeen, Eagle Butte is West River, on the Cheyenne River Reservation, and Elkton is east of Brookings. Though it's true that Dimock, Sioux Falls and Beresford are in the southeast, saying "around the state" is not out of line.
