Whereizzit in South Dakota? Winner!

Thanks to everyone who participated in our November Whereizzit in South Dakota contest! Apparently there are more trumpeting angels in South Dakota than we realized, but this particular one resides in Epiphany. 

We drew William Morfeld's name at random from the list of correct guesses, so he will be receiving an assortment of South Dakota Magazine products in the mail soon.

The angel is atop the WW I memorial in Epiphany SD just a little west of the Catholic Church. I was in the wedding party as my USD roommate from Canova Rick Duimstra married Cheryl Oswald here many moons ago. This is one of my favorite "trinity towns"--- historic church, spiritual cemetery, prairie simple. And it is also the place of one of my warmest epiphanies--- it must have been God or an angel that led me to South Dakota from Cleveland at only 18 back in 1973.

It is definitely in Epiphany, SD nestled in the evergreen trees to the west of the front entrance of the catholic church. My wife Linda (Zens) Van Berkum grew up there & we were married in the church 43 years ago on October 30th of this year. Her parents are Ambrose & Catherine Zens. We have spent many wonderful times in this beautiful little town with lots of fond memories.

The trumpeting angel is in front of the music museum on the campus of The University of South Dakota. I once lived just south of campus and would ride my bike to classes. Many times this angel would be on my way.
