It's near an old railroad bridge on the Big Sioux River. I'd say it's about a 1/4 mile north of Highway 42.

I know I've seen this along the Jim River along old Stone Church Rd south of Menno.

Its a Pier of the Illinois Central Railroad Bridge.The railroad line crossed the Big Sioux River north of Higway 42 near The Perry Nature Center......where the town of East Sioux Falls used to be.

I also think it is the Sioux river railroad bridge pier north of Hwy 42. I remember watching trains go over it when I was a kid.

I think it's the old RR bridge support just East of the Fraternal Order of Police building and Mary Wegner Arboretum East of Sioux Falls on the way to Rowena. I don't know the name of the River. this looks like the support on the far West end of all of the supports.

As others have noted, it is the remnants of a railroad tressel near Iverson Crossing on the Big Sioux River just next to the current bridge near Perry Nature Area east of Sioux Falls.

Its the old railroad bridge between Brandon, Sioux Falls, and Rowena on HWY 11 or 42. Cool Picture!

I'll go with the consensus and say Big Sioux River near Rowena.

I know exactly where this is. It is east of East Sioux in the Big Sioux River along Highway 38 headed towards Rowena. It is the Railroad bridge support from the Railroad that used to run through there. Lots of memories.

Just east of Sioux falls on highway 42

It reminds me of the railroad bridge support along the Big Sioux River along the old hwy 38 which is now hwy 42 between Sioux Falls and Rowena, SD. When I lived in Iowa and drove to Sioux Falls to work in the spring the river would flood and go over the road, but the water never got high enough to go over the railroad bridge.

I've seen this remnant many times while traveling between Sioux Falls & Brandon. It is located on the Big Sioux river.

East Hwy 42 just a short ways before the Brandon, SD turn off to Hwy 11.

I know this, I ride past this every day on the bus ride home from school. Its the Illinois Centrel railroad bridge. This bridge was taken down in the late 70's early 80's. This line went from Sioux Falls to cherokee Iowa. I know all this and Im only 15.

It is an abandonded railroad bridge pier adjacent to the Sioux River, about 3 miles east of Sioux Falls, just north of highway 42.

It is one of the railroad bridge piers located in the Sioux River along Hwy 42. A number of years ago Fred Assum bought the abandoned line from downtown Sioux Falls to the Iowa boarder.

The river scene is located in the Sioux River east of the former town site of East Sioux Falls in Minnehaha County next to the present day Mary Jo Wegner Arboretum. I walked accross the bridge at this location as a child. Our family has lived in this area since prior to South Dakota becoming a state and has trekked over most of it over the years.

This is one of the two remaining piers of the old railroad bridge over the Big
sioux River adjacent to an area on the west side of the that was once known as East Sioux Falls. Just north of it was spot known as Iverson Crossing. It is approximately 400' north of the present Hiway 42/11 bridge.

Rode bike and ran by it on the highway MANY times. We moved from SF 13 years ago, but assume it is still standing.

We were sitting on the couch with 5 grandchildren looking at the South Dakota Magazine on my birthday. I saw the picture and knew what it was. I asked them if they knew what the picture was about. when one said, that is the pier on the old railroad when we go to Grandpa Mouw in Sheldon. I told them I would send this up, would be nice for them get their name in their favorite magazine for their April 1st birthday---7 year old triplets---.I guess I didn't describe where, Hwy 42 and 11 on the way to Rowena , on the north side.I used to l live in Sioux Falls and drove past this every day on my way to Iowa to work,

I believe it is the old standing foundation of either a railroad or or old road bridge on split rock creek just outside Palisade Park south along the river to the blacktop road. It is North of Beaver Creek Church to split rock river and it is on the east side of the road.

I believe it is at the Big Sioux just east of Sioux Falls on Highway 42 north of where the highway crosses the river.

Its the Old railroad trestle (bridge), which went over the Sioux River by Blood Run east of Sioux Falls, on the way to Rowena.

it IS the railroad trestle remains located on the north side of the bridge on Highway 42 that crosses the Sioux river at mile marker 373, located just east of Sioux falls s.d.

Going from Brandon heading to Sioux Falls towards Willow Run Golf Course... After you make the turn towards Sioux Falls and the Golf Course, you will see it on that highway... cannot tell you the name... it is an old railroad bridge, I think?

This railroad trestle is on the Big Sioux River east of Sioux Falls. It is located west of Highway 11.

It's on the Big Sioux River right near Blood Run. I nearly got hung up in tree debris there kayaking a couple summers ago!

This is the old highway base on highway 42 east of Sioux Falls on the big sioux river. A beautiful picture! It seems only we have just driven past it on our way to Sioux Falls but only have come to appreciate it after seeing the magazine.
