Gonzalez moved to the Black Hills from Alaska, and has made a hobby out of photographing the wildlife and scenery of the area.

The Badlands National Park is a popular tourist destination in summer months, but winter visitors are impressed by the park's peaceful serenity.

Wildlife is harder to spot in the cold weather, but if you are patient you may be rewarded by the appearance of bighorn sheep.

The park is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Ben Reifel Visitors Center remains open during winter from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with exhibits showing the spiritual and cultural significance of the area.
