Years have passed since we've covered the Laura Ingalls Wilder homestead in our magazine. This gorgeous slideshow by David Eggen from the New York Times reminded us why we need to get up there.

What a great picture. My niece, her husband and two children visited DeSmet and the Laura Wilder area last weekend, before coming to Yankton.. Their 8 year old daugher had read all the books, so when they traveled here from Washington, DC. that was a must on their list. They stayed in the Laura Wilder House and really enjoyed their time there.

I remember visiting the homestead after I had finished reading all of the books when I was little. Our visit really brought the books alive!
