From 1:00–3:00 p.m., the NMM will host an open mic in the Janet L. Wanzek Performance Hall, giving musicians the opportunity to share their talents on the museum stage. Whether you’re a seasoned performer, an emerging musician, or simply ready to perform for an audience, you’re invited to take part.
The NMM’s 1901 Mason & Hamlin CC concert grand piano (NMM 15723) will be available for performers to use. Participants should bring any additional instruments or equipment they may need.
Musicians are encouraged to reserve a spot in advance through the event page at nmmusd.org. Same-day registration will also be available as space allows.
Additional Discovery Saturday activities will celebrate the upcoming National Hispanic Heritage Month, observed September 15–October 15. Visitors can explore musical traditions and stories represented throughout the NMM’s galleries with special gallery guides and hands-on crafts.
Discovery Saturdays are held on the first Saturday of each month and feature special programming, hands-on activities, gallery experiences, and educational opportunities for visitors of all ages.
The National Music Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. For more information about Discovery Saturdays and other upcoming events, visit http://www.nmmusd.org.
