From a Doctor's Eyes: Photographs by Dr. Anne Galante taken on the Rosebud Reservation.

The Holy Family church and cemetery near Rosebud.

While working at Rosebud, Dr. Galante is on call around the clock but sees patients on a daytime schedule. This left her evenings free to photograph the Rosebud scenery.
-
Galante found that taking pictures was the perfect way to unwind after a stressful day at the hospital.
-
Galante's commitment to the Rosebud hospital takes her away from her family for 14 days six times a year. But, she enjoys "the simple beauty and the quiet."
-
Galante was invited to attend a sun dance, although she couldn't photograph it. She also went to the 2008 Founder's Day Pow Wow where she did get to take photos.
-
"Photography helps me see the whole world differently," she says. By exploring Rosebud with her camera, she became more familiar with her patients' daily lives.
-
Over time, she realized that her photography was improving, and more importantly, she felt she was becoming a better physician.
-
"I love the sound of those jingles as they dance, it's hypnotic," she says of her experience at the Founder's Day Pow Wow.
