Jeremiah Murphy captured these photos from the 2011 He Sapa Wacipi na Oskate (Black Hills Pow wow) in Rapid City held October 7-9. The wacipi also featured the Miss He Sapa Win contest, hand game, style show, archery contest, art show and Healing Conference. Sage and knuckles - a young dancer receives a knuckle bump as he cleanses himself with sage smoke. -
Each grand entry was a combination of sound and sight - the dancers visually represented the music of the drums and singers. During Sunday's Grand Entry dancers' fine regalia created vivid patterns in the simple wash of a spotlight. -
