Concert goers maintain century-old church
Heartwarming music will resound in Hoven’s 101-year-old St. Anthony of Padua “Cathedral on the Prairie” on Sunday, Dec. 8, at 3 p.m. Two large choirs, one magnificent soloist, a captivating narrator, and an orchestra will be featured at this grand pre-Christmas concert with the theme “Peace I Give You”.
An All-Faiths Regional Festival Choir, directed by Elizabeth Bengs and rehearsals accompanied by Rhonda Strouckel, featured soloist Andrea Ross, and Northern State University’s Chamber Singers, directed by Dr. Timothy Woods, are honored to perform with Conductor Nicholas Sharma and the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra (SDSO).
Dr. Timothy Woods brings Aberdeen’s NSU Chamber Singers for their 15th year. He considers his Hoven performances among career highlights. Nicholas Sharma, SDSO’s conductor, comes to Hoven for his first time conducting at the Christmas on the Prairie Concert.
“This is an event that inspires faith, joy of the season, and a beautiful ‘Christmas’ afternoon,” a concert goer wrote, adding, “We look forward to next year’s concert already!”
