Gonzalez moved to the Black Hills from Alaska, and has made a hobby out of photographing the wildlife and scenery of the area. -
The Badlands National Park is a popular tourist destination in summer months, but winter visitors are impressed by the park's peaceful serenity. -
Wildlife is harder to spot in the cold weather, but if you are patient you may be rewarded by the appearance of bighorn sheep. -
The park is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Ben Reifel Visitors Center remains open during winter from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with exhibits showing the spiritual and cultural significance of the area.
